Queenflix is a website dedicated to critiquing contemporary movies based on their feminist attributes. Our goal is to go past the Bechdel Test and delve into the intricacies of femininity, internalized misogyny, and patriarchal norms as they apply to contemporary cinema. To Queenflix, a movie is not necessarily feminist just because it stars women or because it shows its female characters as being strong or independent nor does it meet our high feminist standards simply because it deems men as evil and corrupt. A movie is only Queenflix approved if it gives its female characters their own narrative arcs, allows them emotional freedom, and depicts them as real and honest women.
